Kellen Handler is in deep.
Ever since he can remember, he’s wanted to be a professional surfer. And he made it, rising to the top of the ranks, traveling the world and riding every break he’s ever dreamed of. His good looks and reputation for living on the edge—both in and out of the water—have made him an international superstar. But when his best friend dies in a tragic accident, Kellen wipes out big time, spiraling so badly that everything he’s worked for starts to disintegrate.
Tour officials scramble to do damage control and demand he work with a public relations company to clean up his bad boy image. It doesn’t help that the person assigned to him, Gina Bellori, has her own demons associated with the surfing world.
Against her better judgement Gina accepts the job and concentrates on repairing Kellen’s tattered reputation, despite his protests and despite the pain it causes her. With her past colliding with her present—and Kellen in the thick of it—she begins to realize that some secrets can’t stay hidden.
And suddenly, Kellen Handler is no longer worried about losing his career.
He’s more worried about losing his heart.
Beautiful book cover!
This book is just truly a stunning read, the story just flows so easily, the characters are well developed and have such a wonderful chemistry, a great hero and heroine for your reading pleasure.
Maverick is such a fresh change to a romance book, you dont read about many surfers and i must say i really loved Kellen.
Kellen is in the midst of such grief from loosing his best friend, he is damaged from the lose and his guilt. Hes lost and hurting the only way he can seem to stop the hurt is to drink and then lose himself in another nameless woman, his career as a professional surfer is going down the drain due to his bad rep, that is when he meets Gina.
Gina, a P.R wizz is given the task of changing how people see the bad boy surfer, but she soon discovers that hes not such a bad boy he has just made some bad choices due to the grief controlling him. Gina is not without her secrets and grief herself, both the hero and heroine have issues but together they seem whole. Gina doesnt take no shit from Kellen and doesnt care that he is famous he just a guy, i think that’s why they work so well together.
This story is told from both Gina’s and Kellen’s POV which i love in a book, it gives you insight into both characters, you get inside there heads and there thoughts.
The dialogue is great its such a easy read and believable. The love story element is perfect full of friendship and trust, its a slow burn love.
I think its heart breaking how Kellen scans the ocean like hes waiting for Jay to surface and paddle in.
This story skips along at such a pace keeping you involved, before you know it your at the end with a smile on your face. You will not be disappointed in this book, give it a read!
