“Who knew that pretending you’re not falling for someone would be so much more difficult than pretending that you are?”
Stephanie Kendrick gave up her whole summer to ace her NYU film school screenwriting course, so she’s pissed to be stuck with a preppy, spoiled frat boy as her writing partner. Then again, with her piercings, black-rimmed eyes, and Goth wardrobe, Stephanie isn’t exactly Ethan Price’s type, either. He’s probably got his eye on some leggy blonde with a trust fund . . . or does he?
As the summer scene kicks off in the Hamptons, Ethan is desperate to make his snobbish mother forget the pedigreed girl who broke his heart. While Stephanie’s a stretch as a decoy, the right makeover and a pastel cardigan just might do the trick. She may not love the idea of playing Ethan’s brainless Barbie girlfriend, but the free rent and luxurious digs make a tempting offer. So does the promise of a ready-made screenplay idea inspired by their charade.
But when Stephanie steps into Ethan’s privileged world, the “acting” begins to feel all too real. The kissing and touching that were intended to fool the Hamptons crowd wind up manipulating them. And Stephanie faces a question she’s too afraid to ask: Is Ethan falling for the real her or for the dolled-up princess he wants to see?
This book is due out to buy on the 28th October and is well worth the read. A wonderful twist on Pretty woman, its fresh and keeps you interested to the end.
The banter between Ethan and Stephanie is so funny and gives you real laugh out loud moments they are hysterical. One of my favorite parts is around 6% into the story Ethan and Stephanie are talking about her break up with her ex, Ethan asks if it was a bad break up and she says ‘I guess, i mean i walked in on him exploring someone else’s vagina, and i cant say i was exactly understanding’.
Stephanie has such a dry sense of humor her and Ethan really spark off each other. Ethan and Stephanie are total opposites in every way possible, but they are paired together for a script writing project for a summer class, and so the story starts.
Ethan is the preppy silver spoon frat boy and has a problem with a match making mum, so he invents a girlfriend to throw her off, using the idea that Stephanie be said girlfriend, all for the project idea, of course. Stephanie the tiny goth, has a douche ex and a past full of hurt and wants nothing more than for Ethan to back away and let her do the project alone, but relents for the project, of course.
You can practically feel the sexual tension between this pair oozing off the page, there chemistry is amazing, but its not real its just for the project, right?, to keep Ethan’s mum happy.
Ethan is just the most swoon worthy character ive read about in a book for a while, hes funny, sexy and really cares.
Stephanie rock shes her own person, who is edgy and funny.
The struggle for Stephanie and Ethan to work out if they are real feelings or what is fiction for the script is gripping, you find your self relating to there situation this could be one of your friends and you care how it is going to turn out for them.
This is a story of how two polar opposite can work so well together if they really want it to.
Isnt she lovely, will have you laughing, its full of drama and sexual tension a fantastic hero and heroine, wonderful plot and a HEA ending whats not to love!
