Can a guilty conscience keep wounds from healing?
Fine arts major, Candace Parker, grew up with a mother who thinks image is everything, and her daughter’s perfection will never be good enough. About to graduate college and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, Candace decides it’s time to let go and have a little fun. But fun is short-lived when a brutal attack leaves her completely shattered.
The memories that consume and torment Candace are starting to destroy her when she meets Ryan Campbell, a successful bar owner. He feels instantly connected and tries to show her that hope is worth fighting for. But is Ryan harboring his own demons? As walls slowly begin to chip away, the secrets that are held within start to become painful burdens.
At what point do secrets become lies?
Good god i feel hollowed out after reading this fantastically deep, dark, intense, story.
This book is one of those reading experiences that leave you with such a lasting impression, this story doesnt leave you.
E K Blair takes us on a journey through Candace’s horrific ordeal and she does it with sensitivity and respect, which makes for a very emotional story. I think how Blair shows how victims go through different stages of grief and blame shame was very true to life, really heart wrenching.
All the characters are very well written about you feel like you know them, they have such great friendships, the plot is just so heart breakingley captivating and well delivered. There are graphic descriptions of a sexual assault and how a woman goes through the aftermath of the assault but all these scenes are wonderfully written.
This story is a heavy hitter and at some points it is hard to read but please dont give up Fading is so very worth it.
This has to be one of the most beautiful, romantic, inspiring love stories that i have read in such a very long time. Ryan and Candace build up there relationship slowly and because of this it becomes a unbreakable love that is so intensely strong that some times you feel that they shouldnt be together, that they are just hurting each other too much.
Then its like they need each other to breath easier, crazy intense beautiful love.
If you dont fall in love with Ryan during this book then your heart must be made of stone. Ryan is a wonderful honest strong character and works very hard to show Candace that she too is a strong person, Ryan has such a devotion towards Candace, and to get his point of view in the next book is going to be fantastic.
Dont get me started on Jase and Mark i just loved these too, i wish i had a friends like these.
For a debut novel this book has just blown me away and i cannot wait to read more, there are not enough stars to rate this book.
