When you’re a twenty-year-old triple platinum singer you get an image. Except mine was all wrong. On drugs; pregnant; fucking my manager… they were the kind of lies I’d wake up to every day. But they didn’t know me. Nobody does. People see what they want to see, and think what they want to think. I was a good girl. I played by the rules, kept to myself and it got me nowhere.
I spent the last year in love with a guy who I was paying to fuck me. A guy who fell in love with someone else. One minute he was my life and then he wasn’t. I’ve experienced it all my life. People around until they got what they wanted. Being left on my own at age fifteen was the best thing that happened to me. Until I met Ivan.
Trust nobody but yourself, because everyone hurts you in the end. That’s the lesson I’ve learned. I’m done caring, and I’ll do whatever is necessary to get through this. No matter what the cost. Because at the end of the day, I am in this alone.
Promiscuous kicks right where Tease left off, Beth is devastated by the loss of Coop’s friendship and the relationship of sorts that they had, he was her only true friend that Beth felt would always be there for her.
After a tragic event in Beth’s life, an event where she feels Coop abandoned her, she feels alone and so begins her downward spiral. Beth needs numbness to ease the pain, heartache, and memories of that night.
Beth uses alcohol and sex to find the numbness she needs to get through each night, this is where she meets Roman Hale.
Roman is attracted to Beth and vice versa. He can see the walls Beth has erected around herself and wants to find a way to break them down. He sees the real Beth behind the walls, shes broken and sad, a woman who is need of love and affection.
Roman truly cares for Beth and he goes out of his way to make sure she is safe, his comfort eases and relaxes Beth.
Roman is a strong sweet guy and you cant help but like him.
The characters meld together well and roll the story along nicely. I was truly glad to see Beth happy and in love with Roman, and her friendship healing with Coop. I didnt expect the bomb that Coop dropped out of nowhere!
Missy Johnson has done it again with another corker of a story.
I cannot wait for Scandalous and see what happens with Beth, Roman and Coop.
