Born to a prestigious political family, Avery Adams plays as hard as he works. When some of the most prominent men in politics suggest he run for senate, Avery decides the time has come to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. With a strategy in place and the campaign wheels rolling, Avery is ready to jump on the legislative fast track, full steam ahead. But no amount of planning prepares him for the handsome, uptight restaurateur who might derail his political future.
Easy isn’t even in the top thousand words to describe Kane Dalton’s life after his father, a devout southern Baptist minister, kicks him out of the family home for questioning his sexual orientation. Despite all the rotten tomatoes life throws his way, Kane makes something of himself. Between owning a thriving upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managing his long-term boyfriend, his plate is full. He struggles to get past the teachings of his childhood to fully accept his sexuality and rid himself of the doubts brought on by his religious upbringing. The last thing he needs is the yummy, sophisticated, blond-haired distraction sitting at table thirty-four.
Kindle Alexander sure knows how to write a book that will provoke your emotions and have you a blubbering wreck, i first started crying at 3% that first scene was so emotional it took my breath away.
Kane and Avery’s love story is told in a fresh way, the start of the book is present day, but the rest of the story is told as Kane recounting his and Avery’s relationship to there daughter Autumn.
This is one of those books that will rip your heart from you chest and then put you back together again, feeling all warm and loving inside.
These two men, Avery and Kane were just made for each other and the life and love that they share through out this book is beautiful. A lifetime of happiness is all we can ever hope for, and to be able to share it with someone you love, this book shows what everyone dreams of.
There is no angst and misunderstanding’s that befall these characters, Always is just a pure love story of how Kane and Avery deal with what life throws at them during the years they are together. I found myself smiling at the good times during Avery and Kane’s relationship and feeling sad when the hard times hit, i was so invested in there story i lived in those moments along with them.
When these two men are together they are reduced to sweaty palms, tummy in knots, almost adolescent teenager moments with the intensity of there feelings and attraction to each other right from the very first meeting and that was so nice to read, but was really lovely this seemed to continue all the way through there relationship of over 40 years, they just loved each other that much.
The intensity and raw passion Avery and Kane’s relationship is something neither of them can restrain, and there sex is hot and full of feeling.
I found the secondary characters to be great, Paulie was brilliant hes the hard ass military type with a heart of gold, he sees Kane as a son and has never thought of him differently, he loves him no matter what, he always supported Kane and Avery’s relationship.
I thought the hospital scene with Paulie broke my heart, but the hospital scene with Kane, Autumn and Robert, bloody hell ugly crying at that point.
The ending to this book was so very fitting. A heart breakingley beautiful 5 stars.
Kane and Avery have a love that will last a lifetime and far beyond.
I hope my review will convey that this is such a beautiful love story that really pulls at your own emotions, there’s nothing cheesy or saccharine sweet about Always, its a perfect love put into writing.
