Breaking her rules (Red Stone Security Series Book 6) – Katie Reus

Iris Tarango is a small-town girl from the wrong side of the tracks; she’s also a decorated former Marine who fought hard to become one of Red Stone Security’s most respected agents. But her perfectly ordered life is turned upside down when she’s assigned to guard the sexy, dominating tycoon she shares a secret history with. The instant Iris walks back into the billionaire’s diamond-studded orbit, the wild attraction flares between them…and her reputation, objectivity, and heart are in trouble.

After an attempt on his life, business magnate Wyatt Christiansen calls in major favors to hire Iris as his bodyguard. He knows she’s the best, though he has another motive too. He sees this as his final chance to win her heart. But when danger spins out of control, all Wyatt can think of is getting Iris out of harm’s way—even if it means losing her love in the end.

Unfortunately, the killer seems to know their every move. If Wyatt and Iris don’t figure out who put out the hit, they’ll lose more than their chance at happiness together.

MY REVIEW

Although this is book 6 in a series Breaking her rules can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.

Breaking her rules gives us one hell of a kickass woman hero who’s job it is to save the man who i will not call the heroine as her is pretty kickass too but you get where im going with this, great bit of role reversal. Wyatt is a strong capable hero with moves of his own but it is Iris who is the main protector throughout the story.

Iris is strong and hard coated she is fiercely independent and the leader of her security team and take her job very seriously, but inside she is soft and emotionally vulnerable. Wyatt brings out the softer side in Iris, he breaks through her hard coating bit by bit and works himself inside.

I enjoyed reading this book and the plot kept me entertained until the end, but i didnt get pulled into the story as much as i have with other books, im not sure why but I think it simply lacked the depth of emotion, this book seemed to scratch the surface on the romance and had i bit more action.
Dont get me wrong there were some great sex scenes and as a couple Wyatt and Iris were on fire, but there was just something albeit a small something, missing for me.
A good solid quick read.
